I began detoxing my daily routine a few years ago. I began to learn about how there are many toxic ingredients in the products I bought for my daily routine.
I started by reducing The products I used; simplifying and thinking more minimally about the things I wanted to replace.
This is a before and after picture when I first started several years ago!
And this is a shot of the products I use today.
Here are 5 resources for your journey
This website collects data on products you'd find in the store or on Amazon and rates them. They provide you with ingredient lists, reports on the toxins and what their effects are, and how pure each ingredient is in the specific item.
I used this website to find my mascara, when hunting for sunscreen this summer and also for researching shampoos. You can browse their top rated or type a specific product in the search bar!
I like to buy my make up handmade from small businesses. Etsy is a goldmine for this. I've also found really great botanical soaps and beard essentials for my man! Links above for some of my favorites!
Coconut oil is a multi-purpose essential! I use it as make-up remover, moisturizer, and its one of the ingredients in my lotion and deodorant recipes!
Essential oils are really great for any dry or irritated skin. I use it in my lotions and deodorant for antibacterial purposes too! My top favorites are Lavender (my go-to), Cedarwood (skin irritation), Frankincense (scaring and blemishing), and Tea Tree (for antifungal/antibacterial).
For more concentrated, pure forms I use Young Living.
Earthpaste rocked my world! I used to make my own toothpaste with clay and I had a bit of a mold issue. This stuff is so great, especially for people transitioning from the super sweet minty blast that is most store-bought toothpaste. Husband didn't even bat an eyelash when I first handed him a tube! They have 3 minty options, cinnamon (my fav) and lemon!
I've been using Earthpaste for over two years now and I love how clean my teeth feel. About a year after I started, I went to the dentist for my annual cleaning. Sitting in the waiting room, I was totally mortified to realize I'd forgotten to brush before I arrived (hello lunch leftovers!) and blushing I admitted this to the hygienist. She exclaimed with surprise that she wouldn't have even known because the plaque was barely sticking to my teeth!
The clay has minerals and high ph which help to re-mineralize teeth and essential oils fight tooth decay and promote gum health! Check out their website for all the info http://www.earthpaste.com/
